“ | I don't care if we're no longer friends, I will protect the Earth and everyone on it! | ” |
―Mars, to Ganymede in The Battle of the Planets |
“ | ...We get so lost in discussing the fun facts and science and how things are meant to work that we forget about what makes us... us! I think we should do both from now on. | ” |
―Mars, in The Rocky Planets |
Mars is a planet character who is one of the main protagonists in SolarBalls and is the 4th planet from the Sun.
Personality
Mars is generally outgoing and friendly and is shown to encourage and inform other celestial bodies. When he meets Titan, for instance, he lists off his geological features and admires him for his interesting physique, and he also encourages Mercury to stand up for himself when Venus bullies him. Despite his friendly demeanor, he can be quite ignorant and jumps to conclusions at times, not realizing why Earth could be acting the way he is even though they were best friends for some time. Mars is also more perceptive than his fellow rocky planets, as he is the only one who knows about the gas giants’ moons, Ganymede, Titan, and Europa. Mars also shows concerns for the gas giants a bit more than the other terrestrial planets such as in Search for Planet X - Part 1 as he asks Jupiter if he is OK.
Although Mars acts amicable most of the time, he sometimes mocks others, such as laughing along with Venus and Earth when they mocked Mercury's size. Mars can also be a little nosy, such as when he, Mercury, and the Moon demanded Astrodude the meaning of Venus's name. He can jump to conclusions when he automatically assumed that Ganymede and Europa not only were dating but that they didn't want to play cards in The Battle of the Planets.
In The Battle of the Planets, he is shown to be still protective of the Earth, even when they are no longer friends. When Ganymede and Europa attempted to convince him and Venus to join the Moon Revolution, they immediately refused upon hearing their objective, leading to the Galilean moons threatening them to join. A scuffle ensues between the planets and the moons. Despite their efforts, he and Venus were soon overwhelmed by the barrage of asteroids hurled at them by the outnumbering moons. Fortunately, Mars and Venus survived and are now recovering from the attack, shown in The Moon Revolution Part 3.
In What if the planets were ordered by SIZE? - Part 1, Mars can be seen ignoring Mercury, who was babbling endlessly, and revealing that he was worried about the Earth. He then decides to go argue with the Sun, causing Mercury to try and stop him, for he preferred their current orbits because he didn't need to be next to Venus. But no matter the amount of effort Mercury put in to stop him, Mars was still determined to go.
In The Rocky Planets, Mars reveals that he feels a secret superiority to everyone else, feeling that he always knows better than everyone due to his placement being next to Jupiter. He thinks that he's the more moral, and righteous person out of the others, but even tends to doubt himself, saying it probably wasn't true. Mars then apologizes to Earth for having abandoned him, then bringing on some playful banter by feeling sorry that he wasn't there to see them in the fight with the moons. In which Earth replies that he sucks at Asteroid dodgeball, to which Mars responds with laughter, and asks if they can be friends again, with Earth agreeing.
In “Search for Planet X - Part 1”, he had suspicions of Jupiter due to him struggling to answer his moons after they questioned if he ever did anything wrong in “The Solar System Trials - Part 3”. He then went on to question Jupiter about it and confessed to Jupiter that Mars looks up to him, thinks he's smart, super supportive, and good role model, before being interrupted by Saturn. He then spied on Jupiter and Saturn while they were having a private conversation, where he found out that Jupiter and Saturn were hiding something.
